Microwave Broccoli

 

 

I usually cook broccoli in one of my treasured cast iron pans.  But, not in the summer.  And not when I need stove space.  Once you try broccoli this way, you may never cook it any other way - it's really good!  And so easy, a recipe really isn't necessary, but, here goes:

 

2 stalks broccoli - stems peeled, if touch

extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic - chopped

pinch turmeric

salt and pepper to taste

(a few grape or cherry tomatoes - halved)

 

Quarter the broccoli stems lengthwise and slice - not too thin.

Separate and cut the flowerettes into bite size pieces.

Place all ingredients in 1 1/2 quart glass baking dish with a lid.  Make sure the broccoli is well coated with the olive oil.

Microwave 4 - 5 minutes - longer if you like it softer.
